The Alaska Earthquake Information Center reported that Alaska was shaken up by a powerful earthquake of 6.2 magnitude at 9:51 a.m. on Thursday. The quake was strongly felt 80 miles northwest of Anchorage and it lasted for at least one minute.

So far there are no reports of any damage or injury. According to the National Weather Service the source of the quake
was located 60 miles southwest of Talkeetna at a depth of 98 kilometers. The quake was reportedly caused by the Pacific plate diving
under the North American plate. A tsunami is not expected.
