SPACE ELEVATORS TO BE AVAILABLE BY 2050

By: Steve

Obayashi Corporation, a Japanese construction company, has boldly announced that it plans to build an elevator into space by the year 2050. It was announced by the company two years back that, it has the capacity to build a space elevator and to get it up and running by the year 2050.

Obayashi Corporation said the one time science fiction fantasy, the space elevator can now become a reality because of the development of carbon nanotechnology. The company claimed that the elevator would reach 96,000km (59,652 miles) into space and will use robotic cars which are  powered by magnetic linear motors (maglev) which is presently widely used in high-speed rail lines around Asia and Europe. These robotic cars will be used to transport, cargo and humans to the connecting space station.

An one-way trip on Obayashi's space elevator from Earth to the space station will take seven days, with the destination being a space station. Once completed, it is anticipated that this space elevator could massively cut the cost and danger associated with space trips.

So guys, it looks like if ever this space elevator becomes a reality, it definately would revolutionize space travel and potentially transform the global economy.
