MORE THAN 30 HIKERS FOUND DEAD ON MT. ONTAKE AFTER VOLCANIC ERUPTION

By: San

  • More than 30 hikers who were on Mt. Ontake during the volcanic eruption yesterday have been found to be in a state of 'cardiac arrest' and are presumed dead. The term 'cardiac arrest' is usually applied before doctors can certify death. Around 40 people are feared to be injured.

The volcano has not stop erupting and was still erupting today, where it was spewing smokes and ashes high into the sky.

Japan is  one of the world's most seismically active nations and due to that volcano eruptions happen periodically. Despite that, there have been no loss of lives caused by a volcanic eruption since 1991, when 43 people perished in a pyroclastic flow, a superheated current of gas and rock, at Mount Unzen in southwestern Japan.
